Jón Páll Sigmarsson (April 28, 1960 – January 16, 1993) was a weightlifter and powerlifter from Iceland who won the World's Strongest Man Competition four times (1984, 1986, 1988, 1990).

A famous quote from him is "there is no point in being alive if you cannot do the deadlift". Ironically and unfortunately, he died at the age of 32 while performing this exercise in the gym. He knew he had serious heart problems in his family and was aware of this weakness. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest strength athletes of his time.

He used to shout, "I am a Viking, not an Eskimo!" Two other famous quotes are, "I am in seven'th heaven" which was his translation of an Icelandic saying, and "Ekkert mál fyrir Jón Pál" which roughly translates as "It's no problem for Jón Páll".

Jon Pall Sigmarson spöade dessutom sin idol Bill Kazmaier då de möttes i en strongmantävling.

Han hatade verkligen att förlora. Jag har sett en WSM där han höll på att ta sönder sig själv för att vinna varje delgren (nu vann han inte alla grenarna, men han vann sammanlagt). Han såg ut som om han skulle mörda nån varje gång han inte vann en gren. Det var bara en halv poäng som skilde honom från O.D. Wilson till slut.
