Norton AntiVirus 2006 uninstall probs

Har installerat NAV 2006 men det funkar SKIT rent sagt. Och nu vill avinstallera det. Men hittar ingen "uninstall" eller i "lägg till / ta bort program" menyn finns det inte heller. Programmet startar upp alltid men går ej att ta bort.

help need fast :O

Det var rykten inom Kasperskys inre kretsar att man skulle lägga till Norton i sina antivirusdefinitioner, eftersom det beter sig som ett virus...

Det här är Kasperskys officiella instruktioner för att bli kvitt NAV innan man byter upp sig:

Removing Norton (even when it is already uninstalled via add/remove programs)

Norton remnants is often a source of problems when installing Kaspersky, these problems can vary from small and perhaps unnoticed by the user trying Kaspersky for the first time and therefore thinking that it is normal for Kaspersky to be a little heavy because this is what he/she reads on some forums, to very severe slowdowns prompting the user to perhaps either contact support or post here at the forum.

Well, the good news is that Norton makes some very good removal-tools and if you follow the suggestions below, even if they may seem overkill to you, then a better experience with Kaspersky can almost be guaranteed and with better overall system performance to follow in most cases too!

The "bad" news is that you have to uinstall not only Norton AV, also SystemWorks, firewall and antispam if you use any of these (these can be installed again when everything is done, just not Norton AV of course!), however your patience and hardwork will be rewarded with a much better systemperformance.

What you will need depend on the the Norton version, if you had 2004-2006 installed you will need symNRT, if you had 2003 or earlier installed you then need to use Rnav2003, they don't take a lot of time to run anyway, so don't despair. You download the tools from here (Norton 2004-2006), and here (Norton 2003 or earlier).

You are also encouraged to use a general registry cleaner like RegSupreme, this will find and remove a lot of things so don't be alarmed if the number of problems found after the scan is several hundreds, this normal, most of them is harmless, but there will also be some which is from old installations uninstalled long ago, just let it fix everything, it will ask if you want to backup and you want this, just in case. Download a fresh copy of Microsoft Windows Script, Norton sometimes messes with this during an uninstall, so you may as well update this too.

1. Now you uninstall Norton via add/remove programs in the controlpanel and for the highest successrate (& cleanest uninstall) you can do this in safemode (instructions on safemode at the bottom), then reboot into normalmode after the uninstall is finished.

2. Next you delete the folder most likely left behind after the uninstall, use explorer to open "Program files" and delete the folder of your previous AV, if you get a "In use by other persons or programs" then try to use a program called Unlocker (Free), simply rightclick on the folder and choose "Unlocker" for your options to appear. Very useful tool for difficult files/folders btw. You may find folders from programs you have deleted long ago, you might as well delete them while you are in there anyway.

3. Now you run the Norton removal-tools in this order: symNRT, Rnav2003.exe etc, if you need them all.

4. Run RegSupreme (use normalmode only, not aggressive) and fix what it finds. (rightclick after scan is finished and select "All", then click "Fix" at the bottom or rightclick again & select "Fix")

5. Reinstall Microsoft Windows Script and reboot. You're now finished and can install Kaspersky, if you already use a firewall, then you should disable the networkprotection in Kaspersky 5.0 during the install,
Safemode:

Windows 98/Me
Restart the computer.
Just after the POST diagnostics and memory count, start pressing the F8 key
On the Startup Menu, choose Safe Mode

or you may use the System Configuration Utility Method.
While in Normal mode, Close all programs.
Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
In the System Configuration Utility, on the General Tab, click the Advanced Button
In the Advanced Troubleshooting Settings dialog box, check Enable Startup Menu. Click OK. Click OK again when the System Configuration Utility reappears.
You will be prompted to restart the computer. Click Yes. The computer will restart in Safe mode.
When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again and uncheck "Enable Start-up Menu." under the Advanced Menu, then click OK and restart your computer

Windows 2000
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
When you see the black-and-white Starting Windows bar at the bottom of the screen, start tapping the F8 key. The Windows 2000 Advanced Options Menu appears.
Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected. In most cases, it is the first item in the list and is selected by default.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.

Windows XP

If Windows XP is the only operating system installed on your computer, booting into Safe Mode with these instructions.
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.

To use the System Configuration Utility method
Close all open programs.
Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted.
The computer restarts in Safe mode.
Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.
When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer

Den slutgiltiga versionen av KAV6, den som kommer att gå till butiker för försäljning, finns för nedladdning här:

Grub, jag har Personal pro/version 5.0.376 och licensnyckeln gäller till den 16 oktober. Om jag laddar ner den där betaversionen, uppdateras min nuvarande då, eller ska jag ta bort den innan? Kommer betavers. även gälla till Maj, trots att min nuvarande version gäller till Okt.? Det bästa vore ju om jag kunde uppdatera till den nya versionen och ändå ha kvar licensen till okt :)

Har du en giltig nyckel är du helt berättigad att använda den så länge den är giltig med KAV6 också.

I och med att du har en nyckel, behöver du inte använda beta-koderna ovan alls. Bara att använda samma nyckel som i dag.

Du kör förresten en gammal version av KAV5 också. Har du en giltig nyckel, är du i full rätt att hämta hem alla nya versioner allt eftersom dom släpps. Du köper inte själva det fysiska programmet i en bestämd version, utan du köper licensen att använda dig av den senaste versionen.

Du måste avinstallera KAV5 innan du kan installera KAV6. Det är så mycket nytt, att det inte går att uppgradera rakt av.

Och använder du en brandvägg, avinstallera den också först. Därefter installer du KAV6, sedan brandväggen på nytt efter det.

Men var inte uppkopplad när du installerar av dina skydd. ;)

Du kör förresten en gammal version av KAV5 också. Har du en giltig nyckel, är du i full rätt att hämta hem alla nya versioner allt eftersom dom släpps. Du köper inte själva det fysiska programmet i en bestämd version, utan du köper licensen att använda dig av den senaste versionen.

Då är det bara att tanka hem mästerverket som du länkat till? För du anser att den är stabil och bra?

Det är den slutgiltiga versionen som kommer att gå till butikerna, ja. Det är det bästa antivirus jag har kört i alla fall. Är du hemma i KAV5 kommer du att känna igen dig och inte ha några problem att konfigurera KAV6. Fråga i sådana fall.

Min kompis försökte installera och aktivera med cd-keys som du skrev här i tråden. Men när han gjorde det så kom det bara upp en ruta att "cd-key är bara giltigt till beta". vad tror du kan vara för fel?

Antingen har han inte laddat ned versionen jag länkade till utan versionen efter, den som vi betatestare skall ha för att utvärdera första Maintenance Pack som kommer att släppas andra halvan av året.

Eller så är releasen så nära, att Kaspersky tagit bort betasystemet helt som allra senaste dagarna. I sådana fall är det köpt nyckel som gäller (gamla nycklar från Personal eller Personal Pro fungerar utmärkt, så länge dom är giltiga).

Man kan också välja att aktivera trialversionen (30-dagar).
